Types of Training

SGT ReformerPilates
The pilates technique has gained national attention the last 8 years. This effective approach was first developed as injury rehab for professional dancers. As the popularity of pilates grew, numerous pilates certifications became available, diminishing the original technique and proficiency of instruction. At Poised®, all of our trainers have been trained in the Stott Pilates technique, the industry recognized leader in pilates. In addition, all Poised® trainers have a minimum of 1 year of experience and most have been training for more than five years.

Pilates is a method of movement patterns that challenge the entire body to use the deep layer musculature, thus creating a stronger core, better posture, spinal alignment and a sense of renewed energy and relaxation. This approach is based upon precision of movement and attention to proper body form. The pilates breathing is a key tool to using the correct muscles, increasing flexibility, strength and greater mobility. Although pilates has been called the “gentle yoga”, as many of the movement patterns are similar, pilates instruction may include various pilates equipment or consist of a mat and body workout only.

FitShapePoised® Core Training
All Poised® training includes the core training approach, that is, working the body from the inside out. We believe a strong chest or back cannot remain strong unless the muscles that lay under are strengthened also. This is accomplished by constantly challenging the body in ways that allow the deep muscles to activate. By using equipment such as; the Bosu, stability balls, tubing, bands, rings and techniques such as; destabilizing movement patterns, unilateral exercises, balance challenges, we are able to develop a well toned, efficient physique.

Poised® Strength Training
This is where traditional strength training meets the Poised® training technique. Poised® incorporates certain elements of pilates, such as posture and breathing. Our free weights are ergonomically designed, allowing a better grip so the muscles can work more effectively. All Poised® strength training always includes stability, core and flexibility.

Post Rehab Training
We will work in conjunction with your physical therapist to take you to the next level of your injury or surgery rehab. Poised® realizes the importance of a consistent training program those first few weeks following physical therapy rehabilitation. We have established a working relationship with many physical therapists and physicians to craft a successful program. back to top of page

Programs

Teens in Training Teens in Training
Small group training specifically designed for girls ages 15 and 16 who are involved in competitive sports and dance. Outdoors sessions involve core-cross training, cardio conditioning and food coaching. In studio sessions combine strength training and Pilates.

Monthly Small Group Training
Each month, Poised® offers a variety of SGT sessions and programs in the training techniques of pilates, strength, senior fitness, teen fitness and candlelight stretch. Please see What’s New for upcoming new sessions.
Monthly packages are offered in packets:
4 sessions / 8 sessions / single ad-on /drop-in w/ reservations (current clients only)

 

Spring Training uses the principals of Pilates with an emphasis on Cardio-Core Interval Training. Using the outdoor environment, Trainer and Food Coach Yvonne Tally will have you stair climbing, jumping rope, kick boxing and ab-shredding before finishing off with standing Pilates and deep yoga stretches. It's fun, it's fast, and it will Change Your Body!

Spring Training

 

StrengthAge®
StrengthAgeThis is our senior pilates training, with key focus on all elements of balance, mobility and flexibility. The pace is constant and slower with clear instruction on proper form and technique. StrengthAge® will enhance posture, spinal alignment, relieve lower back tightness and rejuvenate blood flow and energy allowing full integration of mind and body.

Postnatal Training
Your bundle of joy has arrived, your six week check up has passed and you are now ready to get back in shape. We will reshape, regain strength and redefine the new you. Helpful tips on breastfeeding, healthful baby food choices and additional resources such as play groups, mommy groups and nanny care are available at no additional cost through our Poised® LifeStyle Resources.

Next Step Training
This program is designed for woman making the leap from postnatal to “No-Natal”! Obtain your best self ever. This training includes challenging cardio drills, cross training techniques, flexibility and menu planning. And of course, now that you have your new body and spirit, what is better than treating yourself to something new to wear? Lifestyle planning

This 12 week plan is simple. You tell us what you would like to accomplish through fitness and nutrition and we will help make it happen. Our comprehensive program will include;

  • complete fitness and health assessment

  • supermarket and food selection excursion
  • family menu plan
  • pantry and kitchen shuffle
  • weekly progress evaluation

Program Descriptions

Jill spots PaulaPrivate and Semi Private Training
Whether your goal is to run your first 5K, develop more flexibility and redefine your body, regain mobility and strength, or you would like to workout in the privacy and convenience of your home, Poised® will design your fitness program for your life. After your initial session assessment, your trainer will devise your tailored training plan. So we may insure more effective and long lasting results, Poised® will assess your progress through a series evaluations such as postural analysis, biomechanical evaluation, body composition, flexibility and practical strength progression. Sessions are scheduled based upon the mutual availability of you and your trainer.

 

Small Group Training (SGT)
Poised® SGT is an effective and affordable method of training that truly maintains the exceptional quality our clients have come to expect and deserve. By limiting the number of clients in each training session, no more than 6, each participant has a hands on training experience, their own equipment and the focused attention and expertise of their Poised® trainer.

Private Small Group Training (PSGT)
If you have a group of friends or co-workers that have similar schedules and fitness goals, Poised® will design a private small group training program and reserve our SGT room just for you and your group. Private SGT is scheduled based on your group’s availability and requires a minimum of 3 participants. Monthly packages are available and cost is based upon number of participants.

Corporate Small Group Training (CSGT)
Strengthen your corporate team and reap the benefits, increase your productivity, communication and team spirit through physical movement and relaxation. Think outside the corporate box, and build a more cohesive team while experiencing the Poised® pilates CSGT. Poised® will design a 4 week or custom program for you and your team members at your company or in the Poised® private training studio.
